Updates on Cider and Wine.

So back to what this blog originally started as- the chronicles of our endeavors into wine and cidermaking.

Our cider is due to turn '1' in January, and we've cracked open a few preliminary bottles from both the January and April bottlings. And...it's not bad. It's not Strongbow, but it's not bad. I've been mixing mine with fresh apple cider and having a yummy cider cocktail with a punch. Alcohol content is definitely there, we're thinking 9-10%, so more "wine" than "beer" when it comes to that. When it comes to drinking it straight, I find it less full-bodied than I expected and definitely not very sweet. I smell apples, but also alcohol, so I wonder if something got awry with the sugars. Anyway, it was Take 1. And it didn't totally bomb.

And then, on to our most exciting endeavor-- cranberry wine. We only have maybe 5 bottles, a few we made sparkling, and I cannot wait to try this stuff out at Friend Thanksgiving. We have very high hopes.

And finally, the Luna Rossa. This is our first kit wine, and we're bottling tonight. 30 bottles, so it'd better be good. We've never even tasted it, so it was kind of a blind selection, but we're hoping for a big, robust, fruity red. And hopefully that's what we'll get. 6 months or so in the bottle for that one, and we'll have wine coming out our ears.

Heck, get ready for wine under the Christmas tree...

Next... FINALLY... Blueberry wine! I am so jived.
