Found this place online in a quick search for local places where we can start buying our farm products (eggs, meat, etc...) until they start showing up at the farmers markets at the end of June. I spent a bit of time on Monday reading about sustainable farming and how important it is to support local growers and family farms. I know- it must seem like I've just found the organic/small farming/eco-green light....
I mean, deep down, we all *know* this is something that should be important - supporting local business, family farms, eating real, local, non-drugged up food... but I guess if you don't think about it much-- until you decide to do the research and really think about it--- buying local might just nothing more than a 'nice thought.' And even still, I am wary of the cost. Is it *really* worth it? Can we afford it? .... Seeing as how I would have spent $7.99 on a watermelon if I didn't have my Jewel card with me, I think buying locally and avoiding picking up the tab for some food distributor's expensive transportation costs, it's at least worth checking out.
And heck, if not, their farm looks adorable, and I can't wait to meet Gandalf...
