barn sale booty!

The 33rd year of the St. Peter's Barn Sale.

I was there 45 minutes before the doors opened, which apparenty wasn't that early, since lines were starting to form, especially around the popular furniture and antiques doors. I skipped the lines and headed to the country breakfast area-- for $4, I got a full plate of eggs, sausages, hashbrowns, a biscuit and drinks-- that's what I'm talking about!

The doors opened promptly at 9, and I headed into the dishware/antiques area, where I scooped up those adorable little soup bowls- so cute, for .50 apiece, then the pink dish, which I thought, for $2, was cute enough to put rings/necklaces in on my dresser. I moved over to the furniture/lighting area (totally wish I had a few more houses to decorate- there were such great things there!) and picked up the cute little red light. I can never have enough small-sized lamps, and at $3, totally worth it. I'm not sure if I'll keep the base red... who knows.

I hauled all that back to the car and headed to holiday decor, crafts, and homegoods. Yum! So much great stuff to buy, but I don't really need more Christmas/seasonal stuff and homegoods-- I mean- where do you start and where do you stop? I did pick up four adorable framed pics of farm animals with a corresponding French word on top-- the one you see of the sheep says "Bon Nuit" (goodnight.) There is also a bunny, cow, and rooster. The frames need some work (painting? distressing? new frames altogether?) but for $2 (for all!), I thought it was a total steal.

And then, finally the Tools and House section. This is always popular and half the time you get there, all the good stuff is immediately sold. They had a gorgeous dark brown wicker patio set with rockers (sold, but also didn't need) and a few doors like I want for my back door (steel, large glass cutout with blinds inside the glass)- but I was in no position to haul home a door I knew probably wouldn't fit. I did find some chandelier shades, which were great since when you buy them at Lowe's/Home Depot- they're most always $5-6 per shade. I picked 6 up for $.50 apiece and now have the flexibility to change the look of the chandelier whenever!

YAY Barn Sale! The best $16 I spent in a long time, including breakfast!

  1. Super fun way to spend some time alone on a Saturday! Glad you had fun--and probably enjoyed some of the perfect weather while you hauled things to/from the car :o)
