hello, old friend

We stopped at Menard's after dinner tonight, scouting for a few things for spring spruce-ups we've been planning: some electrical accoutrements for a new light *finally* at our front door, crabgrass killer, onion sets....

We browsed new storm doors, options to improve the hopeless upstairs bathroom-- like a new vanity, floor, etc. It was nice to be back with the idea that something new and improved was around the corner. It's been awhile--we stopped the house craziness last summer mostly because we ran out of steam, but also of money, and we've been on hiatus ever since.

Last weekend I was feeling the home-improvement twinge, and so we paraded around each room with a notebook, outlining what we'd like to do (tear out plaster, new vanity, new doors, new windows) and what we need to do (unpainted bits that never got done, finishing shoe moulding here and there.)

So we're back. This weekend we're mounting a light on the outside of our doorway, thanks to my Dad's electrical skills, and working on some general Spring cleanups.

We're definitely done dumping money into the house, especially since we probably won't get a return on our investment in this market, for sure... but it's nice to do some small things here and there...

Now just to keeping the Home Depot trips to a minimum and the bills even less than that....
